ESPORTS ROCKET ACROSS CAMPUS
Since the National Association of Collegiate eSports launched in 2016, more than 300 colleges and universities across the U.S. have launched eSports programs. Collegiate leagues for competitive gamers are quickly growing in popularity, and Western’s Rocket League Club members hope to get eSports and their team recognized across campus.
SOFTBALL SLUGGERS HIT THE FIELD ONCE MORE
Normally when a student-athlete joins a collegiate sports program and starts immediately making waves, the expectation is that they’re going to be part of the program until they’re no longer eligible. Not so for Western softball pitcher and infielder Makinlee Sellevold.
DRIVEN TO WINN
When Micah Winn sits down to study, his demeanor is every bit as intense as when he steps onto the basketball court. Brow furrowed and eyes alight with determination, it would be hard to tell the difference between a picture of him guarding an opponent and one of him writing an essay. Without this determination, Winn said his life could have turned out much differently.

Western men’s basketball will be gaining two talented guards from California’s Cerritos College, juniors Micah Winn and Tyler Payne, for the upcoming 2017 season.

The Western men’s soccer team had an outstanding 2016 season, finishing second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. With the 2017 campaign about to kick off, Western is shooting to win the GNAC championship.
STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM, NOW WOMAN OF THE YEAR
The Sandy, Oregon native was part of a record-topping group of 543 nominated female college athletes from all three NCAA divisions. She is one of 117 Division II nominees and 87 track and field nominees.
